I'm honored someone discoverd and told you about this little site tucked in a back corner of the World Wide Web. However, when people from all over the world (I'm not kidding) suddenly decending on it on 10 February 2003 to get a Bear Hug, it had some unfortunate consequences.

My hosting plan allows me a generous (for what I'm paying) 5GB (five billion bytes) per month of "traffic." On February 10th alone, people wanting to see The Bear consummed 12GB of bandwidth, and my host felt compelled to remove this prime attraction to protect my wallet.

So, dear visitor, the bottom line is I've been forced to withdraw the Bear Hug, and I may receive a very healthy charge on my credit card for some or all of the excess bandwidth over my 5GB/month allocation. One of the "joys" of having one's own Web site about which one isn't warned :-)

Good News!

18 Feb 2003 – I've located some sites which still have The Bear. NOTE: This movie is for entertainment only. It is not, repeat, not, a method to generate donations from Avon to Canadian cancer research. The bear was originally stolen (not by me) from Avon Canada's Web site in 2001 or 2002, their campaign has ended, and the link at movie's end pops an error message when clicked.

PLEASE don't everyone jump on the first link; flip a three-sided coin, roll a die; spread the trafffic out to keep these links from getting knocked offline.

Hint 1: The movie will open in a new window. Maximize it to get a Full Screen Bear Hug!

Hint 2: Save Our Bear! Don't put these links in an e-mail – Send them the bear instead! Right-click on one of the links below (remember, make it a random choice), choose "Save target as...", Save it to your disk - it's only 195KB - and attach it to your e-mails. Now you and your sweetheart and friends can get a Bear Hug at any time without having to go online.
